PROFILE OF THE PARTNER: The Port Authority of Igoumenitsa is a newly established Organization (founded in 2001) owned by the Greek State. It is being managed by the Managing Director (Mr. Nikolaos Kotsios) and a 8-member board of Directors. The main activity of the Port Authority concerns the management of the Port of Igoumenitsa and the nearby small harbours.
The Company is consisted from four different departments (Administrative & Finance Dept., Port Services Dept., Development Dept., and Works Dept.) cooperating with a number of different independent offices.

 

INTERNATIONAL-EUROPEAN-NATIONAL-LOCAL PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES ON TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS (with short description):

 

ELABORATION OF THE EAST MEDITERANNEAN MOTORWAYS OF THE SEA MASTERPLAN
The project’s main objectives are:

  • Define possible Motorways of the Sea in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
  • Strategic Plans for the region’s MoS and evaluation of the projects which will be proposed.
  • Financing and scheduling of the selected proposals.

 

NEW.TON aims at promoting inter-modal transport, increasing accessibility and connections with marginal internal areas, taking advantage of the potentialities of the TEN Egnatia road axis. It draws up supporting actions for a new ro-ro/ro-pax link–line Taranto–Igoumenitsa, outlines the setting–up and management of administrative–electronic procedures in port activities. Outputs are:

  • feasibility study and detailed Business Plan for the new maritime line,
  • new IT platform,
  • information/ awareness actions.

 

MEDINTRADE aims at:

  • Identifying politics of integration and optimization of existing passenger and goods transport, logistics systems and services as well as inter-modal junctions in the lower Adriatic and South- east Mediterranean, focusing on traffic among southern Italy, Greece and Turkey.
  • Promoting concrete and operative actions that will create synergy among transport systems of countries involved in the project through the alignment of a joint set of procedures. These will be “tuned-up” with the support of the key private organizations and local actors in experimental actions which will enhance economic development of involved regions.

 

SECINS aims at providing the necessary systems in resolving problems in the safety-security sector through:

  • Vehicles and passengers checking and
  • Coordination and exchanging information between the involved Port Authorities.

 

ADRION’s main objective is to provide integrated information services - in the intermodal transport sector- to passengers who travel through the ports of West Greece (Patra), Epirus (Igoumenitsa), Ionian Islands (Corfu) and Puglia (Bari, Prindisi).

 

GIPSY main goal is the creation of a telematic System for managing the transfer of goods and passengers through the ports of Bari, Brindisi, Igoumenitsa and Patras.

 

SEALINK The project’s main objectives are:

  • Data collection on the stakeholders who operate in the involved regions.
  • The creation of a “Quality Control” evaluation service for the Transport sector.
  • Development of a supportive information tool for the operators.
