WITHIN 2009 TENDER FOR THE NEW AIRPORT IN CRETE

(AP) - ATHENS - During a visit to the island of Crete, the Greek Minister of Environment, Planning and Public Works, Yorgos Souflias, announced that in 2009 (and not before autumn) will be issued the tender for the construction of new airport on the island, in the resort of Kastelli. The cost for the realization of - was announced by the office Ice Athens - is estimated at around 1.2 billion euros. The new airport will replace ‘today’s'’Nikos Kazantzakis'’(the second most’ important airport in Greece) in Iraklion. The move will release ‘bathing area of about 2,780 meters long, for the development of which the Ministry will draw up’ new projects, taking into account the area attractive natural landscape.

The impact of the Air Transport Single Market on Employment and Working conditions

The European Commission publishes the executive Summary of a preliminary study on the impact of the Air Transport Single Market on Employment and Working conditions. This study is not comprehensive: it covers only the EU-15 and will need complementary information. The European Commission is deepening the research on the social dimension -working with both administrations and operators-, and widening the scope to the whole EU-27.
